Dear FSO Friends,
Welcome to our 16th season! This is truly a season of firsts for the orchestra. In October we feature nationally known horn
virtuoso Paul Hopkins performing Mozart's Horn Concerto No. 3 in E-flat Major on a reproduction of an eighteenth-century horn
without valves. In December we take you on a musical tour of Christmas Around the World, and in response to popular demand,
the Holiday Pops concerts will move to Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon schedule. The program for March features the
winner of our Young Artist Competition for Woodwind and Brass along with Holst's popular suite, The Planets. For our May
subscription concert this season, FSO is partnering for the first time with several local choruses under the direction of
Andrew Rosenfeld to perform Beethoven's majestic Symphony No. 9 in D Minor in two special performances at Frederick's
International Community Church complete with a stellar cast of vocal soloists. We round out the season with A Salute to
Broadway at our June Pops Concert.
Enjoy the show,
Elisa Koehler, Music Director and Conductor
